From Canapés to Champagne: My Culinary Journey Through 2024
2024 has been an incredible year of growth, learning, and opportunities in the culinary world. I am grateful to have been part of some amazing events and would love to share the highlights:
Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Annual Presentation of Young Chefs and Young Sommeliers Competition, The Savoy – 10 May 2024
Thank you, Giovanni, for the opportunity to assist at the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Annual Presentation of Young Chefs and Young Sommeliers competition for the first time. I had the chance to serve canapés and manage Table 13. It was an unforgettable experience where I learned so much and even had the chance to meet the Head Chef of The Savoy.
Fundraiser Event, Royal Automobile Club – 17 May 2024
I had the honour of participating in a fundraiser event, crafting a roast loin of rose veal starter under the guidance of Martyn Nail, the Executive Chef of The Dorchester. Thank you, Ashley, for this incredible opportunity to work alongside such a talented team.
Sushi and Washoku Demo & Tasting, So Restaurant – 24 June 2024
Thank you, Tokyo College of Sushi and Washoku, for hosting this insightful demo at So Restaurant. I am passionate about Japanese cuisine, and learning intricate knife skills, the use of different blade knives, and the concept of “Cuisine of Water” was inspiring.
Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo, ExCel London – 16 October 2024
It was a privilege to represent Dawn’s Gardens as a Chef at this event, where I explored cutting-edge innovations and trends shaping the food and beverage industry.
The Roux Scholarship 40th Anniversary, The Dorchester – 21 October 2024
Thank you, Michael and Nathan, for taking us to this exceptional celebration. It was an evening of inspiring speeches, exquisite food, and an elegant cocktail party, all in honour of the legendary Roux Scholarship’s 40th anniversary.
70th Anniversary Celebration of Disciples Escoffier, Pillars Restaurant – 28 October 2024
Thank you, Giovanni and Sabina, for the opportunity to learn new front-of-house skills. I gained hands-on experience opening champagne bottles and pouring wines for guests, and even managed to finish all the champagne while guests were still asking for more!
Craft Guild of Chefs Wellness Experience, RAK Design Hub – 14 November 2024
Thank you, Ashley, for this inspiring event filled with positivity and creativity. I had fun making festive baubles and was moved by the shared insights on the wellbeing of chefs during the busy holiday season.
Each of these events has helped me grow as a culinary professional, and I am deeply grateful for the incredible people who made them possible.
“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” – Steve Jobs
I am grateful for the opportunities that allowed me to do what I love, and I am excited to see what is next in 2025.
